چکیده
Abstract Background Supraclavicular block is a common technique for analgesia upper limb surgeries. Because of short duration with bupivacaine alone various additive have been used to prolong the action bupivacaine. We conducted prospective, randomized, double blind controlled trial. All patients were assessed onset and sensory motor block, postoperative pain relief. The present study was aimed evaluate efficacy intravenous dexamethasone supraclavicular prolongation in posted Results Fifty belonging American Society Anesthesiologist physical status I–II divided into two groups (25 each). A mixture 0.5% (15 ml) + lignocaine-adrenaline 1.5% given both by ultrasound guided 2 ml IV normal saline group C (8 mg) D given. mean time 8.68 ± 1.81 min 11.12 1.58 11 2.34 13.2 1.65 respectively. Intravenous dexamethasone and perineural dexamethasone similarly prolong the duration of analgesia after supraclavicular brachial plexus block: a randomized, triple-arm, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Perineural dexamethasone prolongs the duration of single-injection peripheral nerve block when added to the local anesthetic solution. Postulated systemic mechanisms of action along with theoretical safety concerns have prompted the investigation of intravenous dexamethasone as an alternative, with decidedly mixed results. We aimed to confirm that addition of intraveno...
متن کاملThe Analgesic Efficacy of Low Dose Dexamethasone Added to Bupivacaine in Ilioinguinal and Iliohypogastric Nerves Block in Patients Undergoing Inguinal Hernia Surgery under Spinal Anesthesia
Background & Objective: Dexamethasone has been emerged as an adjuvant to local anesthetics to provide optimal analgesia. We have evaluated the postoperative analgesic efficacy of adding a low dose dexamethasone to bupivacaine in ilioinguinal and iliohypogastric blocks in patients undergoing inguinal herniorraphy under spinal anesthesia. Materials & Methods: 50 patients in the range of 20 - 80 ...

Intravenous Dexamethasone in Combination with Caudal Block Prolongs Postoperative Analgesia in Pediatric Daycare Surgery.
BACKGROUND This study was conducted to determine if intravenous dexamethasone combined with caudal block was able to prolong post-operative analgesia in pediatric daycare surgeries. METHODS Sixty four ASA I or II children aged 3 to 10 year old scheduled for daycare open unilateral herniotomy received general anesthesia and caudal block using 0.25% levobupivacaine 0.75 mg.kg(-1) with supposito...
متن کاملLow-dose intravenous ketamine potentiates epidural analgesia after thoracotomy.
BACKGROUND Ketamine potentiates intravenous or epidural morphine analgesia. The authors hypothesized that very-low-dose ketamine infusion reduces acute and long-term postthoracotomy pain. METHODS Forty-nine patients scheduled to undergo open thoracotomy were randomly assigned to receive one of two anesthesia regimens: continuous epidural infusion of ropivacaine and morphine, along with intrav...
